Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And of course, me, Catlover04! Good morning RTV people, How are YOU on this lovely Sunday morning? Sunny and chili here... I'm sure the afternoon will be pleasant enough to want to be outside a little. What to ramble on about this morning? Let's see. I've not been keeping up with the rom/com world lately. Too many other distractions, I guess. Ali and I DID make it through the final two episodes of "Quantum Leap" last night. Fantastic end to the season, we thought. Tying up the season's story in an interesting way that makes you feel like if the story ends there, it at least ended well. But at the same time, giving us perhaps a little look at what a season three might look like. We decided if the show stops there, it was a satisfying conclusion. But how much fun will it be to see Ben and Addison leaping through time doing their missions together! So many possibilities there.... hope it continues in the fall. After doing a quick search for news, I'm thinking that it will. This upcoming week, we get the return of "Survivor Season 46". Wish I was more enthusiastic about the upcoming season. It's not just me that feels that the "new era" of Survivor is making the show nowhere close to what it used to be. I read they are dropping the "auction" again this season. Did they not notice how enthusiastic the fans were to see it return last time? Maybe the problem is that CBS doesn't want to give it as much of a budget anymore? Who knows? I read a conversation a while back with dedicated fans who feel that if the show makes it to season 50, that should be the last for Probst. They need to find someone NEW to take over; someone with the energy and drive to restore it back to something closer to the game we all fell in love with eons ago. Pipe dream? Perhaps. But one can hope. Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm. I hope this upcoming season is good; but, I admit to having low expectations. But I CAN say I did enjoy "Survivor 45" more than I thought I would. At least we have some fantastic internationals going on these days. Did you know that an episode of "Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains" made the NY Times list of best TV episodes of 2023? Amazing, since the Australian version doesn't even air in the US. You have to use a vpn or find some other deep underground way to access it. And apparently the editors of the New York Times do! And yet, the NY Times recognized it on their "Best of" list. "US Survivor", I challenge you: prove us all wrong this season. Give us a season to be excited about! And then I looked at the cast. Uh, yeah... back to not expecting much again. But of course I will still watch and chat and enjoy the fun we on this site have with it. I just hope it's a good season. Please. I WANT to be proven wrong! Probst and CBS should ask themselves this; what is it about international "Survivor"s that has longtime-and-dedicated US Survivor fans flocking to underground sources to watch? What are those shows doing differently or better than the US these days? How can we bring American fans back into the fold with all the enthusiasm they used to possess? Fix "US Survivor", Probst. That's my plea. Okay, moving on to this week's TV Week.... Sunday, February 25th Of course, there are competition shows I enjoy: Tournament of Champions, Season 5 Ep 2, on Food Network at 8 pm American Idol Auditions, Season 22, Ep 2 on ABC at 8 pm. But as far as our "chat" shows for tonight.... "Tracker: Springland", Season 1 Episode 3, 9 pm on CBS As Colter helps a young woman locate her free-spirited sister, he digs deeper into how her last days may lead to a dark secret she unearthed in this tight-knit town. This sounds ominous.... "The Way Home: Long Time Gone", Season 2 episode 5, 9 pm on Hallmark Founder's Day in Port Haven brings up memories for Del, Alice and Elliot; Kat finds herself caught between two worlds in her search for answers. Elliot wearing a badge that says "Ask me about my family". Yeah, I would like to know more myself. About Elliot. There is some mystery there... I suggest "Tracker" at 9 pm followed by "The Way Home" on demand at 10 pm. A question for our "Australian Survivor" obsessed people: how would you feel about squeezing in episode 13 (the MERGE!) early.. perhaps 7 pm-ish? It was such fun last week... but so many schedule complications now! I'm going to go ahead and get a page ready for the week, just in case. Also, not really sure an episode will be available early tonight; we will have to see if one turns up. Monday, February 26th "The Bachelor: Joey Graziadei", Season 28, Episode 7, 8 pm on ABC Still in Canada! But out west this time,to Alberta. For outdoor activities and romance, and .... deciding who will get the coveted home-town dates - next week? The end is near;the stakes are higher! Time for final four predictions! "The Voice Blind Auditions, Season 25 Episode 1, 8 to 9:30 pm on NBC I know some of you get upset over "duets" as contestants on "The Voice". How do you feel about a "duet" Coaches team. Also, Reba is the only one representing for women? We've gone back to where the show started twenty-five seasons ago when Christina Aguilera was the only woman in a field of male coaches Blake, Adam and Ceelo. And they didn't just replace the one female coach with another guy... they replaced her with TWO guys! How is this fair? Just kidding. I enjoy this show sometimes. So will probably check it out... however, if we can't work in an "Australian Survivor" tonight, I might do "The Voice" on-demand so I can work one in before.... This! The much anticipated and over-promoted new twist on an old game show... "Deal or No Deal Island: Are You A Gambler", Season 1 Premiere, 9:30 pm to 11 pm . Thirteen players gather on the elusive banker's private island to hunt for briefcases worth more than $200 million in hopes of being the last contender standing. Yes, I'm going there. I know some have indicated extreme disinterest. However, I really would like to check it out. Yesterday I listened to an RHAP podcast between Rob C and Boston Rob. Entertaining chat they had - and now, I want to know more. If anyone would care to join me, I'll have a page ready. It DOES seem like a perfect kind of show for a site that calls itself "RTV Fanatics Unite", right? And, according to Boston Rob, great host and interesting concept (Howie Mandell is involved too. There was speculation that HE could be the Banker, and not just a producer? Hmmm) and has potential to be around for a long, long time. We'll see. Tuesday, February 27th "The Voice Blind Auditions Episode 2" 8 pm on NBC This is why I have trouble with "The Voice": two episodes a week on back-to-back nights. I can usually get the Monday in but then miss Tuesday nearly every week. Maybe I SHOULD reduce it to on-demand on Monday and use that time to work in "Australian Survivor". It's a thought (thinking out loud here). Oh, and if anyone doesn't catch "Deal or No Deal Island" on Monday, it is being replayed on Tuesday. :-}} Anyway, about Tuesday chats: "Will Trent: It's the Work I Signed Up For", Season 2 Episode 2, 8 pm on ABC Will confronts James at the prison, unraveling inmate secrets; Ormewood works on his familial relationships; Angie faces a pivotal moment that brings back memories from her past. I was very sad last week that we met Cricket - and immediately lost her. The big question is... will I continue to be interested in continuing the season? We shall see. "The Rookie: The Hammer", Season 6 Episode 2, 9 pm on ABC The team comes together to celebrate John and Bailey's wedding; Celina discovers a discrepancy in her case, leading to a new discovery; Lucy and Tim's relationship is put to the test. Is it wedding day? Think anything will go wrong (Ha!)? From the description, it doesn't sound like it. But what about Lucy and Tim? Their relationship has been put to the test ever since they began it, right? Such a fun show. Wednesday, February 28th "Survivor 46: This Is Where The Legends Are Made", 8 to 10 pm on CBS Eighteen new castaways embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are left stranded on the islands of Fiji; tribes must be the first to crack the code to earn essential camp supplies; three castaways go on a journey away from their new tribes. After all the negativity at the start of this column, let me just say how much I'm looking forward to the challenge pictured where they are climbing over a giant Probst! Now THERE's a twist! There will, of course, be a page. I might do it early in order to introduce cast and all. We shall see. "Wild Cards: Con With the Wind", Season 1 Episode 7, 8 pm on The CW George gets a three-day pass from jail to spend his birthday with Max and feels the urge to pull one more con; Ellis helps a troubled youth charged with breaking and entering after he discovers it's a teen his brother used to know. My question is, will you guys still be able to work in a chat for THIS? "Resident Alien: 141 Seconds", Season 3 Episode 3, 10 pm on Syfy Harry tags along on Ben, Kate and Max's family trip, hoping the mayor will lead him to answers. For now, the chat for this show is safe. Whew! Thursday, February 29th "Ghosts: He Sees Dead People", Season 3 Episode 3, 8:30 pm on CBS When Jay's sister and her boyfriend visit Woodstone Mansion, Eric reveals a major change that took place after his near-death experience there over Christmas. I don't recall an Eric or any near-death experience that he had, and I think I've seen every episode. Hmmm. Remind me, someone. "Next Level Chef: 80 Degrees and Palm Trees", Season 3 Episode 6, 8 pm on Fox The 13 remaining chefs channel their vacation vibes when they're tasked with preparing a seafood dish inspired by tropical island cuisine; the winning dish gives the entire team immunity and claims the top-level kitchen for the next challenge. This one still my choice over "Ghosts" "So Help Me Todd: The Queen of Courts", Season 2 Episode 3, 9 pm on CBS Margaret and Todd defend the "Queen of Hearts," a notoriously unscrupulous lawyer accused of orchestrating a fraudulent accident that resulted in the death of a "fake victim." Just the show synopsis alone makes me chuckle. "Elspeth", Season 1 Episode 1, 10 pm on CBS When a college theater student is mysteriously found dead in her high-rise New York City apartment, Elsbeth immediately suspects foul play and enters a game of wits against the victim's popular theater director Alex Modarian. I've seen a bit of chatter over this show so thought I'd mention it. I was never a fan of "The Good Wife". Not sure about this one, but if anyone cares for a chat page let me know. Haven't decided yet. I mean, there are so many other shows going on right now. Not sure I have room for another one. But we'll see. I might check it out. Friday, March 1st "Fire Country: See You Next Apocalypse", Season 2 Episode 3, 9 pm on CBS When a family refuses to evacuate their property during a massive wildfire that is escalating quickly, Jake is faced with a heartbreaking decision. This is proving to be a great little show; however.... I would imagine this will be the main group chat night for "Australian Survivor" for this week so I plan to keep it wide open for that. These are my rat musings for the day. If anyone has anything to add, please do so in the comments.
