Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And of course, me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people, How are you on this fine but cloudy, foggy, and threatening to rain Sunday morning? Spring IS in the air here in North Carolina. Yesterday was a beautiful day, very warm and pleasant. But March in NC can be confusing. This season will try to spring early more than once. Flowers will start to bloom. Trees will try to bud. Then we will have a cold spell, sometimes with a few snow flurries mixed in, and everything will freeze. Happens every year. Speaking of snow, I haven't seen so much as one flake this entire winter season. It's been off-and-on cold, sometimes unreasonably cold for NC, but no snow in my area at all. Will we make it officially to spring without seeing any at all? One can only hope. But it IS March. That "In like a lion, out like a lamb" thing doesn't seem to apply here. Sometimes the only snow we see is a random late March one that occurs only to confuse the outside plants and trees. It's more accurate to say "In like a lamb; out like a lion" about the month of March. But enough about the confusing weather in NC. Let's talk TV! Sorry, WM... Ali and I did our week four "Australian Survivor" watch last night without you. I tried to alert you... but you didn't respond. Ah well. Maybe week five we can manage a group watch. There has been far too much new TV to keep up with lately. And I can't think of anything I want to highlight up here. Well, maybe this: If anyone has Great American Family in their TV schedule, you might be able to access their first ever original series, airing Monday nights at 8 pm (but is also available on their streaming site "Great American Pureflix" without ads if you have a subscription. New episodes released on Friday on the app). The show is called "County Rescue" Dani (Julia Reilly) is a young woman of faith who leaves medical school when she feels a call from God to train to be an EMT - much to the frustration of mom and dad, who feel she is throwing her life and talents away. They simply do not understand. But she is steadfast in her faith and goes through her training. The show picks up when she goes to a new job as a rookie EMT. Seems she is one of three being considered for the position: herself, Tim (Riley Hough) and Griffin (Keller Fornes) who is getting this opportunity because he is the fire chief's son. This seems unfair to the other two. Nepotism! I was amused by episode two. Dani and Tim decide they will form a "Survivor-like" alliance against Griffin, who they feel is the shoo-in, considering who he is. But then later, Dani realises maybe there is more to Griffin's story than she knew. More importantly, she found a hidden immunity idol that neither of the guys know about! Pureflix, the streaming app, has many original series in their library. This is the first one to make it's way onto the Great American TV schedule. Nice to see something truly faith-filled on TV for a change. Keep it up, Great American! Okay, now here is a look at our overly busy TV week. Seriously, there is too much. I can't spend every weekend, all weekend catching up on missed TV shows. At some point, I will certainly be weeding some out. Perhaps to catch up on over the summer, when the TV schedule is a lot lighter? Sunday, March 3rd No chats for these two. Caught up on "Tournament of Champions". Already behind on "American Idol". Tournament of Champions, Season 5 Ep 2, on Food Network at 8 pm American Idol Auditions, Season 22, Ep 2 on ABC at 8 pm. "Tracker: Mt. Shasta", Season 1 Episode 4, 9 pm on CBS Colter races against the clock to find the missing teenage son of Reenie's close friend Erika. The move to reduce TV shows might start with this one. You know how I am with these kinds of shows: Justin Hartley or not, for me there needs to be a little humor in order to keep my interest. If it's all dark stories without a chihuahua to lighten things up a bit, I have a hard time sticking with it.(#WillTrentHumour) And let's face it, I'm fully engaged in.... "The Way Home: How To Save A Life", Season 2 episode 6, 9 pm on Hallmark The Landry women reach an emotional climax as Kat works to conjure up a rescue, while Alice sees Del through a wave of grief as old wounds are opened. This show is giving us a fantastic mystery to solve, albeit a confusing one. This is one I will be seeing through to its season conclusion. For this week, we will go ahead with the "Tracker" chat at 9 pm followed by "The Way Home" at 10 pm. We will see how I feel next week. "Australian Survivor" Week 6 Definitely tonight's priority. I, for one, will probably go ahead and watch episode sixteen on 10 Play if it's available early (say 7:00). Not sure if you guys can get a link then; I'm guessing not. I will do a week six page sometime today so it's ready for whenever chats CAN happen. We seem to be doing a lot of "spoiler tag" chats instead of group chats these days,. Monday, March 4th "The Bachelor: Joey Graziadei", Season 28, Episode 8, 8 pm on ABC An excited and anxious Joey makes his way to the hometowns of his four incredible remaining women; Joey has important conversations about what the future may hold for each of them. Hometowns! Let's meet the people who raised these young women search for their soul mates in three months time on exploitive reality TV! This season has been leading up to our introduction to Kelsey's father, whom she had a falling out with when she abandoned his religion. Drama! And guess who will be getting the last date of the night! "The Voice Blind Auditions", Season 25 Episode , 8 to 10 pm on NBC Blind Auditions are off and running. The novelty of having a duo working as one "Coach" wore off pretty fast, though Dan and Shay are pretty funny. Chance the Rapper is a pretty great coach too and - this just in! - who knew he was a fantastic singer as well as a rapper? Will I go the distance with this? I find myself constantly chanting "Don't forget to watch "The Voice"! Don't forget to watch "The Voice"! in my head. Will this be one that falls to the wayside for me? We shall see. This will be followed by.... "Deal or No Deal Island: Are You Calculating?", Season 1, Episode 2, 10 pm on NBC Shots are fired on the elusive banker's private island as the remaining 12 players fracture into alliances; the pressure rises as one player makes a move and gets closer to the biggest prize in "Deal or No Deal" history. I truly enjoyed the premiere. This is not the old "Deal or No Deal" we used to know. It's a lot more complicated (though still stressful) to watch. Deal Or No Deal Island (DONDI) has a lot more to the game. The sequence of events are as follows. First, no longer do the "case models" just stand there and look pretty while opening cases. Now there are only two. In the first episode one played "bartender" to host Joe Manganiello, while the other flew in a helicopter, throwing cases down into a muddy field (I believe they are in Panama). The contestants then have to go find all the cases that will be used in the eventual game. The player who finds the highest dollar amount wins immunity and gets to choose which of the two players who find the least amount will have to face the Banker. (we don't know for sure who it is, but some have speculated it may be Howie Mandell himself). This is where alliance building (stay away from Kelli!) and strategy and the ability to make good social connections come in. If you are one of the two lowest cases, you want to be on good terms with the person who gets to make this decision. What makes this difficult is it is impossible to anticipate who that person will be. How do you plan? The case-finding challenge will not be the same every week. Based on the previews, they are adventure related. I'm sure there will be twists and turns, and many calls from the Banker during this phase from week to week. In the first episode, two red cases were thrown into the mix. One had a small dollar amount (which would be a disadvantage); the other a "steal-a-case" advantage which would allow the player who holds it to take one from another player. Not sure if this will be every week or not (I personally hope not). I mentioned that the person with the highest dollar case in the challenge wins immunity and also gets to choose who to make play against the Banker the normal DOND game out of the two lowest dollar amounts. If that person beats the Banker, he/she gets to choose who to send home out of any of the players (except, of course, the one with immunity). IF that person loses to the Banker, he/she is sent home themselves. Any money earned during the DOND game goes into a prize pot that the eventual winner of the game will receive. In the end, this could be an insanely large amount of money... or not insane at all. It depends on how well our players do against the Banker. I thought the premiere was a good one. I was entertained. And I was even entertained by the RHAP podcast I listened to the next day. The host was fun. The concept is interesting. Some think this show will be around for a long, long time. There will be a page if anyone cares to join us. We have new shows starting up on Fox tonight too... "Masterchef, Junior", Season 22 Episode 1, 8 pm on Fox Twelve young home chefs enter the kitchen to battle it out for the trophy and the $100,000 grand prize; the junior chefs are each given an emoji cookie and have one hour to prepare a dish that represents the emotion behind it. We usually have a few participants for THIS chat, so I'll do a page. "So You Think You Can Dance", Season 18 Premiere, 9 pm on Fox I used to enjoy this show. It's been a while since I've watched an entire season. This will probably be the only time I'll mention it, since I doubt there will be a chat. If anyone plans to watch, let me know. Not going to do a page unless someone indicates an interest in one. Tuesday, March 5th "The Voice Blind Auditions" Episode 4, 9 pm on NBC "Will Trent: You Don't Have To Understand", Season 2 Episode 3, 8 pm on ABC With several civilians dead and one woman missing, Will and Faith question a suspicious pastor ahead of the councilman's ribbon-cutting ceremony; Angie joins Ormewood back in the field to investigate a sauna murder. Now that we are in season two, I'm wondering if I will go the distance. I re-discovered this show watching it by myself to prepare for the start of the sophomore season (there was very little good TV happening then). But NOW there is too much to follow everything. We will have a chat page. Kind of on the fence if I'm going to continue for now. "The Rookie: Trouble In Paradise", Season 6 Episode 3, 9 pm on ABC Nolan and Bailey's honeymoon is more of a nightmare than a dream when it turns into an active crime scene; Tim and Celina partner up and must uncover the identity of a John Doe. Poor Nathan Fillion: on any show he's on, he just can't have a normal wedding. Something will go wrong; trouble always seems to find him. The "Castle" wedding mystery was an intriguing one. Now "The Rookie" is giving him honeymoon problems. Can't the guy just have a normal wedding? Heh. "Alert Missing Persons Unit: Bus 447", Season 2 Episode 1, 9 pm on Fox As the MPU moves into new offices, which comes with new boss Hollis Braun, a call comes in reporting the disappearance of an entire city bus full of students on a field trip. I think I was the only one who stuck with this show last season. I really enjoyed it but wasn't sure if there would be a second season. They wrapped up season one well, making me think it was a one-and-done thing. But we got another one after all, so I'll be checking it out (probably on -demand for now, since "The Rookie"). Wednesday, March 6th "Survivor 46: Scorpio Energy", 8 to 10 pm on CBS One tribe struggles to keep their heads in the game after the first tribal council of the season; tribes must use teamwork and persistence during the immunity challenge to keep them from heading to tribal council. Poor Jelinsky. Whoever taught him that "several" means "seven" ("It's right in the word!" Uh, no it isn't...) made him look silly on national TV. Excerpt from the RHAP exit interview: Rob C: "So how many holes would you say were in that bucket for the Sweat challenge? Several?" Jelinsky: "No, just five". Rob C's chuckle was audible at this response. So what did we think about the premiere? Did we enjoy it? Do we think the season has potential? Still too early for me to tell, but episode one was enjoyable. The chat, as always, was the best part for us. We will see what we think as the season goes on. "The Masked Singer: Rita We Love Your Ora", Season 11 Episode 1, 8 pm on Fox The season premiere kicks off with an exciting performance by new panelist Rita Ora; special celebrity performances and a jaw-dropping reveal no one sees coming. No Nicole this season. Awwww! This show really is a lot more fun with a chat but being on opposite "Survivor" (the reason this site was created), makes it hard to work a chat in. Last season, I didn't go the distance with it. We will see what happens in 2024. "Animal Control: Raccoons and Mutts", Season 2 Episode 1,9 pm on Fox When Shred wallows over Emily's blossoming relationship with Rick, Frank decides to cheer him up with a special adventure; the group is shocked to learn Victoria is in a green card marriage. Fun little show. Shame it has so much competition. But I will on-demand it for sure. I mean... it's Joel McHale! "Resident Alien: Avian Flue", Season 3 Episode 4, 10 pm on Syfy Harry gets distracted from his mission, while Mike and Liv make a huge discovery. For now, this will be the second chat of the night. We will have to figure out another plan once "The Amazing Race" starts airing in two weeks. Thursday, March 7th "Ghosts: Halloween 3, The Guest Who Wouldn't Leave", Season 3 Episode 4, 8:30 pm on CBS Pete's ex-wife, Carol, shows up at Woodstone Mansion during Sam and Jay's Halloween party, where they're trying to impress some cool friends; the ghosts hope to bring Flower back with a seance. You can tell THIS episode was originally supposed to air last October! "Next Level Chef: On The Go", Season 3 Episode 7, 8 pm on Fox The chefs are tasked with preparing a next-level international street food dish; the platform never stops moving throughout the challenge. Still my priority. Glad Ali is with me on this. The BAD news is, no new "So Help Me Todd" tonight.... (Already? But the season just started!) Booo! (Also, no "Elsbeth" this night for the next few weeks) But the good news is that this night might end up being a good "Australian Survivor" night.... Friday, March 8th ... or we could just do it here like normal. These are my rat musings for the day. If anyone has anything to add, please do so in the comments.
