Today is a special day - it's Catlover's Birthday!! If it weren't for our beloved Catlover, none of us would be here. She was the one who was dissatisfied with what was happening over at EW on the comment boards (we're looking at YOU, Spot.IM!) and decided to create a new space where we could continue to comment with Disqus. Since then, this community has lost and gained new commenters, chatters, and shows to chat. "Survivor" continues to be our mainstay and without it, we would be lost. But we keep finding new ways to engage. And our chats go beyond TV for many occasions. For me personally, there are a lot of shows I wouldn't watch without a group of (or even just one) chatters to watch with me. So THANK YOU to Catlover for creating such a wonderful space where people like us can engage in a friendly, open way over our favourite TV shows (and sometimes movies!) and just life in general. Without you, we'd all be lost. Have a wonderful day with your family and, most especially, your cats! And now for WindbagMark to have his say:
I keep wondering how Catlover thinks about the year that just passed. So much has happened! She went into full-fledged empty nest syndrome - no longer were all three children abiding at the family home. And - oops! - we can't even call them children any more: they are all young adults now, living their own adult lives. "My God!" I picture Catlover saying to herself, "How did this all happen so fast?" Work also provided its own ups and downs this year. Finally, a satisfying job she truly enjoyed going to every day - but at times overwhelming and requiring insane working hours! Great responsibilities that a competent worker like Catlover can handle - and to accommodate this, her own private office (for the first time in her decades-long employment career!) That's what work is for all of us - equally rewarding and frustrating! And what of the media world? Grudgingly admitting "Survivor" may not always satisfy like it used to - but a show that re-invents itself every new season can never be given up on! That goes for international versions too - and their schedules usually mean there is always a new "Survivor" to watch somewhere. And if not, thanks to the twenty-first century creation of "streaming", there will always be some new reality show to discover! A gem or a bomb? Let's dig in and watch to get our answer! So happy birthday, Catlover. Saturday birthdays must mean ample opportunities for the family to treat their beloved matriarch to the festivities she loves most. Your nuclear family wishes you love and happiness today. Your online family does too.
