Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Good morning, RTV People, I've been told that my partner in this site... you know, the one who edits everything I do to make it more entertaining... is out of town this weekend so will not be on hand to edit. Awwwwww... we will sure miss his wit this week. However, I ALSO happen to know that he is having a special day today. Now, I normally do this sort of thing on a separate special event page so I will get on that just as soon as I'm done here and will post a link to it in the comments for any who would like to contribute. But what theme to use, I wonder? hmm. Must think on this a little. While I think... lets move on to our TV Week. Sunday, May 22th Other than The American Idol finale... which I will miss; and When Calls The Heart which I will also miss (will be out all evening), can't see anything to chat. Monday, May 23rd Tonight COULD be all about game show fun.... if anyone were interested. "Don't Forget The Lyrics" Premiere, 8 pm on Fox Hosted by Niecy Nash, yet another take on the music trivia theme. "Beat Shazaam: Friends, Family and Trash", Season 5 Episode 1, 9 pm on Fox I've always kind of liked this one. But am I in the mood for back to back game shows? Well, if anyone else were, I guess I COULD be. There is also a TV Network airing of - Jurrasic World, 8 pm on NBC An ex-military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) must use his special skills to save tourists at the Jurassic World island resort from rampaging, genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. I mean... it's Chris Pratt. And, I believe, Bryce Dallas Howard. I've seen it before. Not a bad movie, actually. We haven't had a good old fashioned movie watch in a while. I might be willing. Tuesday, May 24th "Holey Moley: Pepi's Ransom Plan Continues!" Season 4, Episode 4, 8 pm on ABC Pepe the King Prawn and Stephen Curry form an unlikely friendship; dreams come true on Holeywood as one competitor leaves with a golden putter, coveted plaid jacket and a spot in the finals. It seems this Muppet theme is here to stay this season. But, despite that, the show is still entertaining. "This Is Us: US" Season 6 Episode 18, 9 pm on NBC The Big Three come to new understandings about life. This Is IT! The final episode of what has truly been one of the most captivating family drama's, with a little comedy and a lot of heart, of all time. I can't say I've loved every choice made for each character. But overall, with a team of excellent writers and a cast of excellent people bringing life to these characters, this will go down as one of the best of all time. And they are ending this lovely series as beautifully as it began. I remember well that first episode and my reaction to it, which was being so moved I was prompted to write a blog about how much I loved and was affected by this wonderful introduction to the Pearson family, which is how the weekly episode chat was born. That first episode which introduced us to Jack and Rebecca as a young couple expecting triplets who had to deal with the heartbreak of losing one at birth. Jack, determined to take home three babies just as they'd planned, being willing to take in a black baby, Randall, who was left abandoned at a fire station and brought to the hospital while they were there dealing with their loss. Never mind that this is not really how it works in the real world (pretty sure they would have had to go through an adoption process before taking him home). But who cares; it made for a beautiful moment at the end when we are first introduced to "The Big Three": Kate, Kevin and Randall. Who doesn't remember Dr. K (played by Gerald McRaney) making that infamous lemonade statement... that in the last episode we heard mocked by Marcus and his siblings because they just didn't quite get the sentiment in the same way that JACK did when Dr. K first said these words to him. Or that their DAD, played by Dule Hill, did when Jack repeated these words to him on the night of that fire that took his life (a chance meeting at the hospital when a car accident nearly took the life of Marcus). Just who is Marcus? Leave it to TIS to give us a mystery to solve in one of its final episodes that originally seemed so random, but in the end made sense. I have long appreciated how beautifully they have told this story, weaving us in and out of timelines so effortlessly that there is never any confusion. The exceptional casting of the big three in all stages of their childhood. I could go on and on. This show was magic for six beautiful seasons. As much as I'm sad to see it end, I'm glad they are ending it well and just as beautifully as it began. I wouldn't miss this finale for anything. There will, of course, be a live chat. Wednesday, May 25th "Survivor Season 42: Finale!", Episode 12, 8 pm on CBS After an accelerated, grueling 26 days filled with new twists and advantages, castaways skillfully navigate their way to the final three, with one crowned the sole survivor. I have been chuckling at the sorry attempts at the synopsis writing for this show all season. Why should tonight be any different. Also, there were two obvious typos in the synopsis that I had to correct. Maybe they should hire ME for the synopsis writing job. It is a three-hour finale tonight which will bring to a close Season 42 of Survivor. Who will be the winner? Still in the running are Johnathan, Lindsay, Maryanne, Mike Turner, and Romeo. I am solidly rooting for Lindsay... but I must say, Maryanne had what may have well been the best strategic move of the season last episode. Interesting, yeah? We've spent all season teasing her; mocking her over-zealous enthusiasm that was annoying for most of us to watch. But in the end, it is about Survivor smarts, and she proved last episode that she has some. For sure, over Johnathan who can say he is a challenge beast and a great provider to the tribe but when it comes to strategy, dim as a post (sorry Johnathan). Maybe even our Lindsay who has been a challenge beast in her own right and who has proven time and again that strategy is a strong suit for her, in particular over dim as a post Johnathan (sorry Johnathan). Especially over Mike and Romeo. Who would have thunk it? When it comes down to it, little Maryanne provided us with one great move last week that may very well win her the season. Can't wait to see how this turns out. "Masterchef: Back to Win, Audition Battles" Premiere, Season 20 Episode 1 8 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: Former "Masterchef" contestants return; chefs compete in head-to-head audition battles. Well, due to Survivor finale, a watch for this will be delayed but NEXT week, perhaps we can get a good Live Chat going. I need all of our Masterchef fans to come out to play! We are all on our own for Episode 1 but starting with Episode 2, I will be doing a chat page. "So You Think You Can Dance", Season 17 Episode 2, 9 pm on Fox I did enjoy the premiere, but it seems that the chat for this will need to wait until Episode 3 due to Survivor. So, to summarize, next week instead of Survivor on Wednesday, we will have both "Masterchef" and "So You Think You Can Dance" filling up our evening for chats. Thursday, May 26th "Masterchef Junior Edition: The RestaurantTake-Over", Season 19 Episode 11, 8 pm, Fox The top six junior chefs put their skills to the test during a restaurant takeover at the luxury hotel NoMad Los Angeles; executive chef Rudy Lopez teaches the chefs how to prepare some of the establishment's signature dishes. This one is coming down to its final episodes. We haven't really had a good chat going for it so far, but I'm fine with using the Daily Chat page. I know I sometimes am pushing it to be ready by 8 pm any night of the week these days. While some shows (Survivor) I will make sure to chat on time if I can, this one if I need to delay my watch so I can relax a little, I will. For some reason they seem to be showing a Rookie episode instead of Big Sky? Not sure why... Friday, May 27th "Raising Dion", Season 2: Beginning with Episode 4 I should have no conflicts with this so if Ali is available, I say we jump back in as close to 8 pm as we can to work in a bunch of episodes. These are my rat musings for the day. If anyone has anything to add, please do so in the comments
