Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Good morning and welcome to our Sunday RAT page. This is the point at which I normally try to come up with something clever to talk about. Sometimes I'm good at it; sometimes I'm not. We are having a beautiful fall Sunday, weather-wise. Woke up to sunshine and chilly temps. Great day to take a walk, and luckily I'm off today. Will work in Church, and later find some time to enjoy this gorgeous weather. Hope you all have a happy, relaxing Sunday. Now, lets get to our TV week: Sunday, October 18th Wide open... or is anyone in for checking out a revival of yet another game show? "Supermarket Sweep", 8 pm on ABC I was sort of interested... but the description doesn't really sound much like the format I remember from the show I used to like. Unless anyone expresses interest, I might opt out. Prime time is now being over run with game shows that used to be reserved for daytime TV. Hollywood proving yet again it is out of original ideas, I guess. We COULD visit BBC America for a showing of... "The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey", 9 pm on BBC America For fans of J.R.R. Tolkien writings. This, of course, is the prequel to the blockbuster movies based on The Lord of The Rings. "My Precious..." I have seen this first movie but not the rest of the series. This might get my attention tonight, actually. I suppose I COULD check out "Supermarket Sweep" at 8 pm THEN switch to this. ______________ Sidenote: Or I could take the night off TV and read the book I started the other day. It captured my attention fast and I'm looking for a good chance to continue. It's "The Heaven Trilogy" written by Ted Dekker (one of my all time favorite authors) in case you were interested. I've had this book at my disposal for a while, but hadn't picked it up yet. Finally got around to it and now I'm hooked. So if I'm missing for a while.... Still wish I could initiate a book club. Do people read anymore? Honestly, I have a virtual library on my Kindle and a stack of real books on a bookshelf waiting for my attention. I should turn off the TV more than I do. At one time, I was such an avid reader I would go through several books a week. Not sure when that changed (the invention of the internet?). Well, not true - I DO know. It was having three kids that took every second of my attention, making it hard to focus on a book. Sorry for the bunny trail. Moving on to.... Monday, October 19th "Big Brother" Season 22 Episode 32, 8 pm on CBS WM? Season wrapping up soon! Tonight we find out who becomes the new HOH after a challenge based on the game of chess, requiring brain work, strategy and planning for three or more steps in advance. Provide your own "Enzo" joke in the comments section.. "Dancing With The Stars" Episode 6, 8 pm on ABC Won't do a live chat page because I know nobody cares but me )and maybe Polly Pocquet). But despite horrible host Tyra (replace her with Joel McHale!), I have been enjoying this season more than I thought I would. Will continue, but my priority tonight may be.... "The Voice: Blind Auditions" Season 19 Premiere, 8 pm on NBC So sad Nick Jonas is not coaching again - and so sad we get Gwen again. Just not a fan of her as a coach. Really wish the "Return of Adam" rumour turns out to be true. But we must take it as they give it to us. With BB still running interference, not sure who will play along. But I will do a live chat for this first episode just to see. "The Weakest Link" Season 1 Episode 5, 10 pm on NBC Has the show permanently moved to Monday at 10 pm? EJetson and I have been the only two chatting. Does this move to 10 pm change our desire to continue? I guess we will see. Since it is airing right after "The Voice", I will probably go ahead and watch as it airs. Let me know, EJ. Tuesday, October 20th "The Bachelorette: Claire" Season 16 Episode 2, 8 pm on ABC Sorry Bachelorette fans that I skipped listing the show's premiere on the RAT page last week. Totally missed it - but in my own defense, it moved to Tuesday (not on the usual Monday). And it started in the fall instead of the normal summer (damn you, corona virus!) And it's just not my thing, so I was simply not paying attention to what was happening with this season that SHOULD have started early summer (actually, only Bachelor "spin-off" shows - "Bachelor in Paradise", the original "Bachelor Pad" - air in the summer. There is always a "Bachelor" or "Ette", depending on the rotation, beginning in the fall). WM or Browncoatali? Care to share your thoughts on the premiere? (Most of us agree it was a great start: a solid cast with strong hopefuls and minimal douchecanoes right now - and Claire looks like she'd be a strong, take-no-crap Bachelorette. Too bad we know she is going to fall in love too soon and leave ahead of schedule!) "The Voice, Season 19 Episode 2, Blind Auditions Part 2, 8 pm on NBC I'm sure I'll spend my time here and will use the same chat page started on Monday. I see no reason to make a new page. Unless anyone has any objection.... Also, there's that little thing called "The World Series". I won't be watching but I understand some will never miss, this despite the shortened season. Batter up!!!! We will have to wait to find out what will happen "next" on... "NEXT: File #1" Season 1 Episode ....., 9 pm on Fox Great little show about an AI threatening to take over the world. Sadly, no new episode this week: "World Series" interference. Oh well. Wednesday, October 21st "Big Brother" Season 22 Episode 33, 8 pm on CBS WM? At the end of the season, the "Power of Veto" becomes more important than the HOH, because it is the holder of this power who determines which two players go on the block and then decides which one to vote out. Give this one your all, people! "The Amazing Race: Red Lipstick Is Not My Color" Season 32 Episode 2, 9 pm on CBS After a strong premiere, here comes episode two which will, according to Zap2it, feature the season's first "Yield". Show had an overall likable cast (at least so far) but a controversial ending: the leg was called a continuation leg (meaning the players continued racing after they were dragged to the mat by baby goats) ... but the last team to arrive WAS eliminated? WTH? I didn't approve of this at all. Sorry Phil. Just seemed unfair to me. But still, looking forward to episode two. The team with their race cut (unfairly) short was best friends, Nathan and Cody. Which of the cast do we think said the episode title about red lipstick (should be Dani from "Big Brother", but I doubt it)? Hmm. Sadly, no one did a premier recap on EW. Not Jodi Walker, who normally does them. Not Dalton Ross, who did the preview article for the season and is probably suffering extreme "recap" withdrawal pains, having no "Survivor" ones to write for the first time in TWENTY years! I did find a recap on "Reality Blurred".... here is a link. https://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2020/10/amazing-race-season-32-episode-1-one-million-miles-recap/#comments I didn't do a recap myself. Just didn't feel I had the time last week. But I suppose I could dust off my recapping skills and take to recapping this show myself, if you all would like. Unless WM would like to do it; let me know WM. "The Masked Singer" Season 4, Episode ......, 8 pm on FOX "I Can See Your Voice", Season 1 Episode ....., 9 pm on Fox Both shows are cancelled this week due to "World Series" interference. Won't require a "delayed chat" this week. Awwwwww...... If anyone missed the last TMS and has a burning desire to know just who that was in the Baby Alien costume: it was, once again, someone I would never have guessed in a zillion years. It was none other than football player Mark Sanchez of New York Jets fame. Never heard of him. Cute, original costume though - and he wasn't a bad singer. As for "I Can See Your Voice", it is a lot more challenging than you might think. I'm terrible at it but finding it fun to try. Browncoatali has proven to be the best guesser of our small group watching. Let me explain the premise: it's a "guessing" game where you must determine whether the player is a genuinely talented vocalist - without actually hearing them sing a note. They come out dressed as whatever character they are in real life: waiter, biker, yoga expert, grocery store worker, the original "Hooters" girl (Oops! Thinking about "To Tell the Truth!") etc. You see them "lip sync" to a song. If they are the real deal they will lip sync to their own voice: a bad singer will lip sync to a pre-taped good singer. The contestant's goal is to find the "bad" singer each round; a correct guess earns him / her (hey, wait a minute - all the contestants so far have been women, haven't they?) a $10,000 bank. So there is potential to bank $50,000 by the final round (each show features six singers). When it gets down to the last one, the contestant has a choice: choose correctly and win a $100,000 bonus; choose wrong and lose all, even the banked money. Go home with nothing. Not feeling confident? Stick with whatever banked money you have and pass on the six-figure bonus. The great reveal at the end is whether the last player standing is talented or not. Best of all, that singer duets with the night's guest judge, a professional vocalist of great skill. We've seen Nick Lachey sing with a good one; we've seen Jordan Sparks sing (hilariously) with a bad one. This week, it was Nicole Scherzinger of "The Masked Singer" who had to duet with a very bad singer. Detailed description, but wanted to give a clear picture for those who have never checked it out. I love guessing games. This one is pretty challenging. Moving on.... "American Ninja Warrior: Semi-Finals 2" Season 12 Episode 6, 9 pm on NBC And because Wednesday doesn't already have far too many things happening, this show has moved to 9 pm on this night. Big sigh. I've sort of lost track of it anyway. Oh well.... Thursday, October 22nd "Big Brother, Season 22, Episode 34: Eviction Night", 8 pm on CBS WM? (Second last eviction night of the season! This will take us down to the final three, and the season will end one week from tonight! It's looking like Cody's to lose, if anyone cares....) "Star Trek Discovery" Season 1 Episode ....., 10 pm on CBS No new episode this week for this show too due to the final presidential debate. Maybe next week... "Big Brother, Season 22, Episode 35", 8 pm on CBS No idea what this Friday episode is.... WM? (Almost certainly a "clip" show. Every season features on Friday night show; every season it's an hour of crap we have no need to see again) And The World Series continues.... Any future re-watches are on hold until further notice. You guys let me know when you are ready. With the lack of a Survivor season (which is just so wrong!) I really would like to find some Survivor activity this Fall. If anyone is interested in that, let me know. We will pick someone's chosen season, select a start date and go from there. If any new news comes out about the future of the show, I'll post it as soon as I see it, probably on the Daily Page.
**Well, just took the time to investigate and found a bit of info. Filming for season 41 will not take place till spring 2021 - which means no "Survivor" at all this autumn or spring. Awwww! Of course, we all know why: covid 19. The issue is, even though the cast has been chosen for season 41, the borders of Fiji are closed so they cannot travel there until it all re-opens. I fear the soonest we can expect a new season will be fall of 2021. Unless they choose to air it in the summer. Wouldn't that be nice? So let's do some Survivor fun of our own. We will give it a couple of weeks, but soon I'll come up with some suggestions for Survivor Fun: a rewatch of some season. A "Survivor Trivia" fun page. An introduction to International Survivor seasons for those who have never taken the dive (#NeverForgetJosee!). The possibilities are endless. These are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments.
