Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Good morning, RTV people. And a very.... To all of our Moms, Step-Moms, Grandmoms, Greatgrandmoms... wishing you all a happy and wonderful day. As mentioned on yesterday's Daily Page (that no one seemed a bit interested in) we have a brand new season of "Survivor" to enjoy this summer. No, not the US version but something with the potential to be good. It's the eight season of the South African franchise. I've seen two of the previous seasons and found them very good. 2021's begins on June 3rd and there are already some good teasers out there. My "go-to" for these kinds of things is RHAP (Rob Has A Podcast); international Survivor podcasts are done by Shannan Gaitz, an Australian journalist who does a fantastic job. Here is a link to the first two installments of her pre-season cast assessments. She is joined by RHAP's own Mike Bloom. Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island Pre-Season Interviews, Part 1 – RobHasAwebsite.com Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island Pre-Season Interviews, Part 2 – RobHasAwebsite.com The challenging part for international watches is finding a good link. I have a source that is usually reliable but I haven't used it in a while. I will check there first. Most of the time, South Africa makes them available on both Dailymotion and YouTube. Finding a good time to group chat can also be challenging. If anyone is interested in checking this new season out, let me know. Moving on to the upcoming week: Sunday, May 9th "American Idol: 417 (Coldplay Songbook & Mother's Day Dedication)" Season 19 Episode 17, 8 pm on ABC "The remaining finalists perform one song dedicated to the special loved ones in their lives in honor of Mother's Day and a second song from the Coldplay songbook, mentored by the band's lead singer, Chris Martin." Oh that's right! Coldplay songs... I expect Ali to know each and every one because I sure won't. Heh. "American Ninja Warrior: The American Ninja Warrior Women's Championship" 7 pm on NBC Twelve elite female competitors battle across two daunting courses; the top four finishers advance to race head-to-head on the power tower, with the winner taking home $50,000 and becoming the first-ever American Ninja Warrior Women's Champion. Not the official start of the new season but potentially a fun watch. Do these ANW shows have the potential to draw ConorL out of hiding? heh. "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Zoey's Extraordinary Session" Season 2 Episode 12, 9 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: In therapy, Zoey reflects back on her unexpectedly profound first day working at SPRQPoint. Wait... do we get an appearance from Lauren Graham? Wouldn't that be wonderful? Much as I'm enjoying her as "cool hockey mom" on "The Mighty Ducks" ... we sure miss her as Joan. No mention of Joan on the previews, but...... an appearance from dad! Peter Gallagher is back! And a much younger Zoey and Max! "The Rookie: Triple Duty " Season 3 Episode 12, 10 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: Officers Nolan and Bradford hope they can de-escalate a drug war before any innocent lives are lost; Officer Harper hopes she can get Officer Chen ready to go under cover. Last time we saw Nolan's mom (Frances Fisher), she was told in no uncertain terms to leave his house. Something tells me she won't be making a sentimental appearance to honour this occasion tonight! Monday, May 10th "The Voice: Top 17 Perform", Season 20 Episode 13 The winner of the four-way knockout is revealed; the remaining top 17 artists perform in front of coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton for their chance at a spot in the top nine. I thought I was caught up on this but I don't recall a 4 way knockout. I guess I shouldn't have blown off last week's filler - I thought - show. Hmm... Tuesday, May 11th The Voice... results show at 8 pm.. Didn't know this. "This Is Us: The Music and the Mirrors", 9 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: Beth navigates her career path; Kate and Toby face unexpected issues; a run-in with someone from his past gives Kevin pause. Did we get a hint of who the past friend was (well, "someone from his past" doesn't automatically mean a "friend". Kevin's past relationships didn't always end well, did they?) I believe we did but can't recall the name. Beth's friend and the one who traveled to Vietnam with him last season? "Prodigal Son: Sun and Fun", Season 2 Episode 12, 9 pm on FOX (Now that is an entirely too happy title for this show. Heh) Episode synopsis reads like this: As the search intensifies for a serial killer on the run, so does Malcolm's tenacity, causing U.S. Marshal Emily Ruiz to kick him off the case. Now, I have a dilemma this night. I got word from "The Chosen" that Season 2 Episode 4 will be dropping at 9 pm on Tuesday. Will I be able to wait until after TIS to watch? Not sure.... we will find out on Tuesday. I guess I could just watch it at 10 pm while you guys chat.... "Big Sky: Nice Animals", Season 1 Episode 15, 9 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: When Scarlet gets an alarming call that her sister is missing, Ronald realizes just how twisted his situation has become; Cassie, Jenny, Gil and Rosie find themselves in trouble on the ranch. Oh dear. A child in danger. Glad I'm not watching. (Child missing? Only child this season is Scarlet's daughter, and she wasn't mentioned) Wednesday, May 12th "The Masked Singer: The Quarter Finals-Five Fan Favorites" Season 5, Episode 10, 8 pm on Fox The final five singers perform in the quarterfinals to see who advances to the semifinals. This just in; the guest judge will be "Holey Moley's" Rob Riggle. Should be a hoot. Yeti, Piglet, Black Swan, Russian Dolls, and Chameleon are the ones still in competition. The season is winding down in a hurry. Who will win the coveted "Masked Singer" championship? And just who is the person underneath the Cock-A-Doodle costume? We will have to watch to find out. Thursday, May 5th "Manifest: Bogey" Season 3 Episode 9, 8 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: Ben reunites with a duplicitous foe; Michaela and Zeke's dinner party with Jared and his new girlfriend is halted by a calling that ignites the Stone siblings to save the life of one of their own; Olive's friendship with Levi blossoms but is tested. No double episode this week. Awww. (Hey! How come Michaela doesn't get the first line in the synopsis this week??? WTH??) Friday, May 14th Finally found a pretty good list of summer premieres... here is the link if you are interested. TV Premiere Dates 2021 Guide – The Hollywood Reporter Of particular note: Crime Scene Kitchen, Wednesday, May 26th Hosted by Joel McHale. A somewhat different take on a cooking show. American Ninja Warrior, Monday May 31st Premiere of Season 13 Making It, Thursday June 3rd Premiere of Season 3 The Chase and To Tell The Truth, Sunday June 6th Didn't these two shows just end? hmm The Bachelorette, Monday June 7th Holey Moley and The Hustler, Thursday June 17th Season three for Holey Moley. Season two for The Hustler. And you guys thought it wouldn't get renewed! I'm happy; I really enjoyed both these shows. Didn't see a mention of Big Brother (unless I missed it completely). Hmm. If there is any info to be had, I'm sure QOTROS has it already. Also, not seeing much in the way of scripted shows to care about. It's okay; I need to watch less TV anyway. Heh. Anyway, these are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments. Have a great day!
