Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people! First, for those who missed it... Survivor South Africa did not disappoint! More on that later. We've scheduled a second watch tonight, for those who weren't available on Friday. Second, hope you are all out there enjoying some of this beautiful weather. Well, it's beautiful weather where I am. Spent a bunch of it outside yesterday and experienced a "sunshine shower". So funny when that happens! I have a memory of being a little girl, way back when, being completely fascinated about how it could possibly be raining when the sun is out and there is not a cloud in the sky (it IS one of those weather curiosities). I think I drove my mom crazy, trying to get her to explain how this was possible. She did her best but it still wasn't clear, at least not to my little girl satisfaction. Actually, it seems more probable that she said something like "Just happens sometimes. Come along..." Hey, I'm sure there is a logical explanation. Heh. Those were the days. :-}} Sidenote: I actually took the time to look it up and found a lot of generic answers. Also found that in some parts of the world, people call this phenomena "The devil beating his wife". Never heard that before, even though it was number one on the list of names people use to describe this weather condition. What a horrendous phrase for something so cool. I like my term "sunshine shower" much better. Moving on..... Third, someone explain to me just why it is that NBC is so dumb. Heh. This really makes no sense. My family has Hulu, which has our NBC live channel. NBCSN should be the sports network that covers everything including Olympics, tennis grand slams, cycling, etc. But for whatever reason, they have chosen to pull some of their sports coverage away from Hulu to air exclusively on Peacock. Poor hubby went looking for the French Open yesterday, which last year was full coverage on Hulu. It could not be found. So it was either switch from Hulu to Fubo (which seems to have most everything sports related) to get access, or sign up for Peacock. To say I was a bit annoyed is quite an understatement. Now, I WOULD just switch to Fubo (and I might still, because I really feel like it would save us a bit of money for reasons I won't go into). But here's the kicker: TCM has chosen to pull their entire live channel and library from Fubo for some contractual issue. I switch from Hulu and I lose TCM and all those wonderful old movies in their library - but hubby gets all the sports he could ever want or need and I actually get all the Hallmarks. To keep both Hulu and Peacock TV - it's not really worth all that money. No, it's not that expensive, but there really isn't much of anything in their library that I would be interested in that I couldn't access somewhere else. Except the French Open, of course. Heh. It's a "catch-22". This was my annoyance yesterday. I will say I have tried Fubo before and really loved it... but that was before they dropped TCM and before they added the ABC/Disney/ESPN channels. I didn't care but everyone else did and it caused a revolt and so we switched back to Hulu. My point of this long-winded saga of my family's TV woes is: streaming sites are getting ridiculous. If they are not careful, all of us cord-cutters will be flocking back to cable/satellite TV. Or turning off the TV for good. Vent over; moving on the our TV week. Sunday, June 6th "Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island", Season 8 Premiere 2nd Group Watch Last call for a group watch of this "Survivor South African" season premiere. Now Ali and I watched on Friday and truly enjoyed the episode. So much fun it was! The cast might be a lot younger than some of us would prefer but it still has some interesting people, concepts and twists. And I have always liked Nico, SSA's host, a lot. That premiere was the most RTV fun I've had in over a year. Cannot wait for more episodes but wait I must - and WHILE I wait, we will have a second watch tonight for those who missed the first one. I say 8 pm start time. It appears that there is just one episode a week (on Thursdays) so we should be able to watch on Friday at whatever time you all want. Anyone interested who has not yet expressed it to me... please let me know. There are a couple of fun shows starting tonight as well: "The Chase" Season 2 Premiere and "To Tell The Truth" Season 7 Premiere Not sure if I'll do "The Chase"; maybe could be talked into TTTT. depending on if people are home to care. Heh. Let me know who is interested in chatting these two shows. Monday, June 7th The Bachelorette: Katie Thurston, Season 17 Premiere Twenty-nine charming men and one mystery box hope to get lucky in love with new bachelorette Katie Thurston; Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams offer advice; Katie selects 23 lucky bachelors to continue to get to know. Is it this time of year again? Yep, the summer editions usually start the first week of June. This was is unique: for the first time in the show's history, no Chris Harrison hosting (he is busy "educating himself"). Instead, he will be replaced by two former Bachelorettes. Will be interesting to see how that works out. "American Ninja Warriors: Qualifiers 2" Season 13 Episode 2, 8 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: "The qualifiers continue with a new generation of ninjas including competitors as young as 15 facing up to six challenging obstacles, including the Shrinking Steps, Weight for It, Split Decision, Tipping Point, V Formation and the iconic Warped Wall." I guess I'm on my own for this one after all. Heh. That didn't take long. Wonder if I'll be motivated to continue? Wonder if we should find an alternate chat time? Tuesday, June 8th "America's Got Talent: Auditions 2" Season 13 Episode 2, 8 pm on NBC I really enjoyed the first episode. Of course, there were a few duds. I won't lie. But there were also some really wonderful ones. A couple of my favorites: the dogs that opened the show, making me smile. Truly loved these father/son comedians. This little seven year old... so charming. Dad, so proud even though they technically are competing against each other. Heh. And this was my favorite: beautiful story, wrapped up in a interesting magic act. It deserved the Golden Buzzer, I thought. But instead, Howie gave his buzzer to this "Nurses Choir", which made my RN daughter happy. And they were good? But Golden Buzzer good? Well, my vote would have gone to Dustin - that magician's act really touched my heart. Looking forward to Tuesday's show. Wednesday, June 9th "Masterchef Legends", Season 18 Episode 2, Curtis Stone, 8 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: "The home cooks have 45 minutes to impress the judges, including guest judge and legendary Michelin Star chef Curtis Stone." So fun to have this show back. Calling all "Tigger"s! He is an avid "Masterchef" fan who somehow didn't make it to the premiere! Awwww. Really surprised me. Here's hoping he is able to make it for future chats. "Crime Scene Kitchen: Just Desserts", Season 1 Episode 3, 9 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: "The bakers head back into the kitchen to take on a new, delicious challenge; the best dessert detectives continue on in the competition and the duo that falls short heads home." I'm enjoying this fun little show, in spite of being reminded just how inept I would be at solving these mysteries. I think I'll be catching this one for its duration. Thursday, June 10th "Manifest: Mayday Part One" and "Mayday Part Two", Season 3 Episode 12 and 13, 8 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: Michaela struggles to help the passengers avoid a deadly threat; Ben and Saanvi undertake a treacherous mission to save someone they love; Jared and Vance team up, but their partnership reveals secrets that could upend their lives. This two hour finale might be on a bad night for me - might not make it to the show. But a chat page will be done and I'll let you all know later if any personal plans keep me from playing along. Friday, June 10th "Survivor South Africa" Episode 2... 9 pm for all interested parties. And if WM must spend an early Saturday at the beach - well then we'll have a second watch party on Sunday again. Heh. I know, we must plan our TV schedule around WM's beach habits.
These are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments. Have a fantastic Sunday!
