Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people, The US Olympic trials are taking over NBC this week. Any of this network's shows will either be dumped this week or moved to a much later-than-normal time. Beware. Heh. A lot of coverage is "swimming and diving". I have two offspring who spent a lot of their childhood on swim teams so this may be of interest to them. We'll see. I might be watching a lot of these sports all week. Okay, I know what you all want: MORE streaming comments! Heh. Sometimes it's good to take a closer look at what is available and what you are actually paying for with these things. Now that I've had Peacock for a week, my feeling about it is reinforced. I see now why Amazon won't make a deal with them. An awful lot of what is available on Peacock is also available on Prime. So why does a person need to pay for both? I have a feeling it won't be long till the contracts run out for Prime and some of those shows get yanked. Programs like the three "Chicago" shows. "Eureka". "Monk". "Warehouse 13". "Psyche" (to name a few). Sure, they have a pretty good movie library, and also some original content - but so does Prime. We will probably not keep it unless - or until - a lot of these shows (some of which I've seen before and find enjoyable, but re-watching is not interesting for me) get yanked from Prime. Also, I'm not sure that the sport thing has really been an issue for hubby. Except for that one Federer match - which for some reason did not air on Hulu - nothing else has been missing. And speaking of Hulu, I've been doing some comparing of Hulu to other live TV streaming sites. My conclusion is: if you're a person who really enjoys "on demand" TV show libraries - more than you do live network TV, or news or sports - then Hulu really is the best choice. Even if you dropped live TV and just paid the basic 5.99 a month, their On Demand library is a lot more extensive than most. AND even if you do that, most new Network TV is available to watch next day (if you don't mind "on demand" a day late instead of live TV). Bottom line is: we will stick with Hulu for. It's what we are used to... even if I get frustrated with it sometimes. I only wish they would provide an add-on for Hallmark / UpTV. For now we aren't dropping live TV because of Turner Classic Movies and sports. We lose live TV, we lose TCM and all of it's great old films. We lose all the big sports channels that hubby enjoys. But there may come a day when all the kids have moved out and we do just in the interest of saving a bit of money. That day may be very close; it's the reality we must face as parents. Heh. Okay enough about that; moving on to our TV week: Sunday, June 13th US Olympic Trials beginning at 7 pm on NBC. I saw some swimming and diving which will be of interest to people in my house so I'm sure we will give some time to this. I wonder if we will have the same level of interest in the games this summer as we have had in the past? Will the Olympics pull ConorL out of retirement, I wonder (if ANW couldn't do it, not sure if Olympic coverage will when the games officially start). We'll see, I guess. The last couple of Olympics, I did a separate daily "Olympic" page where people could have access to chat all day about it if they wanted to; however, we have a lot fewer people now. Will decide when it gets closer. "The Chase" Season 2 Episode 2, 9 pm on ABC and "To Tell The Truth" Season 7 Episode 2, 10 pm on ABC Better panelists on TTTT this week: celebrities Jason Alexander, Oliver Hudson and June Diane Raphael. Let me know if anyone wishes to watch. Monday, June 14th "The Bachelorette: Katie Thurston", Season 17 Episode 2, 8 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: "The suitors receive a literal wake-up call; Katie and one lucky man go on a charmingly special camping date; Katie is forced to question who is truly here for the right reasons." WM? (Oh, except he will be at the beach all day so maybe Ali should update us instead). It's the usual episode two of us getting to know the bachelors better. But the elephant in the room will be Chris Harrison's permanent removal from the show (reportedly for a mid-eight figure sum, paid for him keep his lips sealed about twenty years of "Bachelor" secrets!) Will it even be mentioned on Monday night at all? And more Olympic Trials on NBC. More swimming. No Michael Phelps this go around. The other swimmers must be excited about that. Heh. Tuesday, June 15th And... MORE Olympic trials... Swimming.... which means that .... America's Got Talent, Auditions, Season 16 Episode 3 will be bumped to 10 pm Just one hour tonight and bumped to 10 pm. I'm only going to highlight one audition from last week, Simon's "Golden Buzzer". It was truly sad and truly inspiring all at once. I'll be saying a prayer for this young lady. Her joyful presence in the midst of a trial that most of us could not even imagine is truly inspiring. Wednesday, June 16th More Olympic trials, swimming finals... But there is also some fun reality TV. This will present a bit of a dilemma for me. But if no one is home to care, I'll probably just catch the swimming later and do these two shows first: "Masterchef Legends", Season 18 Episode 3, Paula Deen (who I lovingly refer to as Aunt Dora, "Elizabethtown"), 8 pm on Fox The final audition round of the season; guest judge Paula Deen. Hopefully, we will have a Tigger this week. heh. "Crime Scene Kitchen: Decisions, Decisions", Season 1 Episode 4, 9 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: The bakers head back into the kitchen to take on a new delicious challenge; the best dessert detectives will move forward in the competition and the duo that falls short will head home. I really enjoy this fun little show but there is a mutual feeling among us watchers. As much as we all like Joel McHale: is a HOST (whose only job is to provide comic relief) REALLY necessary for this show? Sorry, Joel, but - no, it really isn't. They could eliminate you and the show would still be very good. Thursday, June 17th FUN NEWS FOR TONIGHT! The return of ..... "Holey Moley Goes Pro!", Season 3 Premiere, 8 pm on ABC, followed by "Holey Moley: Silent Night Holey Night", Season 3 Episode 2, 9 pm on ABC The funnest place to be on a summer Thursday night! "Holey Moley", goofy and just plain enjoyable. If you have not yet become a fan, hope you will join us for our live chat. Followed by the return of... "The Hustler, The Most Diabolical Game on Television", Season 2 Episode 1 Premiere A few of us became fans of this show the first season. Glad to see we get to have it back to enjoy. This will be a fun Thursday night! Friday, June 18th "Survivor South Africa" Episode 3 (8 pm for all interested parties). If you want to join in but need to catch up with the first two episodes, let me know. I'll see if I can help. Excellent season so far. As always... These are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments. Have a fantastic Sunday!
