Hello RTV People If you are all caught up on anything you care about from last night's TV, you are safe to enter. Truth be told, this page has become a pretty fun one, full of randomness. No one here will post anything that hasn't already aired on TV. You only need to worry if you missed something from last night that you don't want spoiled! So if you are NOT caught up on LAST NIGHT'S TV..... yada, yada, yada. Have a great day!

Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people, The US Olympic trials are taking over NBC this week. Any of this network's shows will either be dumped this week or moved to a much later-than-normal time. Beware. Heh. A lot of coverage is "swimming and diving". I have two offspring who spent a lot of their childhood on swim teams so this may be of interest to them. We'll see. I might be watching a lot of these sports all week. Okay, I know what you all want: MORE streaming comments! Heh. Sometimes it's good to take a closer look at what is available and what you are actually paying for with these things. Now that I've had Peacock for a week, my feeling about it is reinforced. I see now why Amazon won't make a deal with them. An awful lot of what is available on Peacock is also available on Prime. So why does a person need to pay for both? I have a feeling it won't be long till the contracts run out for Prime and some of those shows get yanked. Programs like the three "Chicago" shows. "Eureka". "Monk". "Warehouse 13". "Psyche" (to name a few). Sure, they have a pretty good movie library, and also some original content - but so does Prime. We will probably not keep it unless - or until - a lot of these shows (some of which I've seen before and find enjoyable, but re-watching is not interesting for me) get yanked from Prime. Also, I'm not sure that the sport thing has really been an issue for hubby. Except for that one Federer match - which for some reason did not air on Hulu - nothing else has been missing. And speaking of Hulu, I've been doing some comparing of Hulu to other live TV streaming sites. My conclusion is: if you're a person who really enjoys "on demand" TV show libraries - more than you do live network TV, or news or sports - then Hulu really is the best choice. Even if you dropped live TV and just paid the basic 5.99 a month, their On Demand library is a lot more extensive than most. AND even if you do that, most new Network TV is available to watch next day (if you don't mind "on demand" a day late instead of live TV). Bottom line is: we will stick with Hulu for. It's what we are used to... even if I get frustrated with it sometimes. I only wish they would provide an add-on for Hallmark / UpTV. For now we aren't dropping live TV because of Turner Classic Movies and sports. We lose live TV, we lose TCM and all of it's great old films. We lose all the big sports channels that hubby enjoys. But there may come a day when all the kids have moved out and we do just in the interest of saving a bit of money. That day may be very close; it's the reality we must face as parents. Heh. Okay enough about that; moving on to our TV week: Sunday, June 13th US Olympic Trials beginning at 7 pm on NBC. I saw some swimming and diving which will be of interest to people in my house so I'm sure we will give some time to this. I wonder if we will have the same level of interest in the games this summer as we have had in the past? Will the Olympics pull ConorL out of retirement, I wonder (if ANW couldn't do it, not sure if Olympic coverage will when the games officially start). We'll see, I guess. The last couple of Olympics, I did a separate daily "Olympic" page where people could have access to chat all day about it if they wanted to; however, we have a lot fewer people now. Will decide when it gets closer. "The Chase" Season 2 Episode 2, 9 pm on ABC and "To Tell The Truth" Season 7 Episode 2, 10 pm on ABC Better panelists on TTTT this week: celebrities Jason Alexander, Oliver Hudson and June Diane Raphael. Let me know if anyone wishes to watch. Monday, June 14th "The Bachelorette: Katie Thurston", Season 17 Episode 2, 8 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: "The suitors receive a literal wake-up call; Katie and one lucky man go on a charmingly special camping date; Katie is forced to question who is truly here for the right reasons." WM? (Oh, except he will be at the beach all day so maybe Ali should update us instead). It's the usual episode two of us getting to know the bachelors better. But the elephant in the room will be Chris Harrison's permanent removal from the show (reportedly for a mid-eight figure sum, paid for him keep his lips sealed about twenty years of "Bachelor" secrets!) Will it even be mentioned on Monday night at all? And more Olympic Trials on NBC. More swimming. No Michael Phelps this go around. The other swimmers must be excited about that. Heh. Tuesday, June 15th And... MORE Olympic trials... Swimming.... which means that .... America's Got Talent, Auditions, Season 16 Episode 3 will be bumped to 10 pm Just one hour tonight and bumped to 10 pm. I'm only going to highlight one audition from last week, Simon's "Golden Buzzer". It was truly sad and truly inspiring all at once. I'll be saying a prayer for this young lady. Her joyful presence in the midst of a trial that most of us could not even imagine is truly inspiring. Wednesday, June 16th More Olympic trials, swimming finals... But there is also some fun reality TV. This will present a bit of a dilemma for me. But if no one is home to care, I'll probably just catch the swimming later and do these two shows first: "Masterchef Legends", Season 18 Episode 3, Paula Deen (who I lovingly refer to as Aunt Dora, "Elizabethtown"), 8 pm on Fox The final audition round of the season; guest judge Paula Deen. Hopefully, we will have a Tigger this week. heh. "Crime Scene Kitchen: Decisions, Decisions", Season 1 Episode 4, 9 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: The bakers head back into the kitchen to take on a new delicious challenge; the best dessert detectives will move forward in the competition and the duo that falls short will head home. I really enjoy this fun little show but there is a mutual feeling among us watchers. As much as we all like Joel McHale: is a HOST (whose only job is to provide comic relief) REALLY necessary for this show? Sorry, Joel, but - no, it really isn't. They could eliminate you and the show would still be very good. Thursday, June 17th FUN NEWS FOR TONIGHT! The return of ..... "Holey Moley Goes Pro!", Season 3 Premiere, 8 pm on ABC, followed by "Holey Moley: Silent Night Holey Night", Season 3 Episode 2, 9 pm on ABC The funnest place to be on a summer Thursday night! "Holey Moley", goofy and just plain enjoyable. If you have not yet become a fan, hope you will join us for our live chat. Followed by the return of... "The Hustler, The Most Diabolical Game on Television", Season 2 Episode 1 Premiere A few of us became fans of this show the first season. Glad to see we get to have it back to enjoy. This will be a fun Thursday night! Friday, June 18th "Survivor South Africa" Episode 3 (8 pm for all interested parties). If you want to join in but need to catch up with the first two episodes, let me know. I'll see if I can help. Excellent season so far. As always... These are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments. Have a fantastic Sunday! Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And, of course me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people! First, for those who missed it... Survivor South Africa did not disappoint! More on that later. We've scheduled a second watch tonight, for those who weren't available on Friday. Second, hope you are all out there enjoying some of this beautiful weather. Well, it's beautiful weather where I am. Spent a bunch of it outside yesterday and experienced a "sunshine shower". So funny when that happens! I have a memory of being a little girl, way back when, being completely fascinated about how it could possibly be raining when the sun is out and there is not a cloud in the sky (it IS one of those weather curiosities). I think I drove my mom crazy, trying to get her to explain how this was possible. She did her best but it still wasn't clear, at least not to my little girl satisfaction. Actually, it seems more probable that she said something like "Just happens sometimes. Come along..." Hey, I'm sure there is a logical explanation. Heh. Those were the days. :-}} Sidenote: I actually took the time to look it up and found a lot of generic answers. Also found that in some parts of the world, people call this phenomena "The devil beating his wife". Never heard that before, even though it was number one on the list of names people use to describe this weather condition. What a horrendous phrase for something so cool. I like my term "sunshine shower" much better. Moving on..... Third, someone explain to me just why it is that NBC is so dumb. Heh. This really makes no sense. My family has Hulu, which has our NBC live channel. NBCSN should be the sports network that covers everything including Olympics, tennis grand slams, cycling, etc. But for whatever reason, they have chosen to pull some of their sports coverage away from Hulu to air exclusively on Peacock. Poor hubby went looking for the French Open yesterday, which last year was full coverage on Hulu. It could not be found. So it was either switch from Hulu to Fubo (which seems to have most everything sports related) to get access, or sign up for Peacock. To say I was a bit annoyed is quite an understatement. Now, I WOULD just switch to Fubo (and I might still, because I really feel like it would save us a bit of money for reasons I won't go into). But here's the kicker: TCM has chosen to pull their entire live channel and library from Fubo for some contractual issue. I switch from Hulu and I lose TCM and all those wonderful old movies in their library - but hubby gets all the sports he could ever want or need and I actually get all the Hallmarks. To keep both Hulu and Peacock TV - it's not really worth all that money. No, it's not that expensive, but there really isn't much of anything in their library that I would be interested in that I couldn't access somewhere else. Except the French Open, of course. Heh. It's a "catch-22". This was my annoyance yesterday. I will say I have tried Fubo before and really loved it... but that was before they dropped TCM and before they added the ABC/Disney/ESPN channels. I didn't care but everyone else did and it caused a revolt and so we switched back to Hulu. My point of this long-winded saga of my family's TV woes is: streaming sites are getting ridiculous. If they are not careful, all of us cord-cutters will be flocking back to cable/satellite TV. Or turning off the TV for good. Vent over; moving on the our TV week. Sunday, June 6th "Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island", Season 8 Premiere 2nd Group Watch Last call for a group watch of this "Survivor South African" season premiere. Now Ali and I watched on Friday and truly enjoyed the episode. So much fun it was! The cast might be a lot younger than some of us would prefer but it still has some interesting people, concepts and twists. And I have always liked Nico, SSA's host, a lot. That premiere was the most RTV fun I've had in over a year. Cannot wait for more episodes but wait I must - and WHILE I wait, we will have a second watch tonight for those who missed the first one. I say 8 pm start time. It appears that there is just one episode a week (on Thursdays) so we should be able to watch on Friday at whatever time you all want. Anyone interested who has not yet expressed it to me... please let me know. There are a couple of fun shows starting tonight as well: "The Chase" Season 2 Premiere and "To Tell The Truth" Season 7 Premiere Not sure if I'll do "The Chase"; maybe could be talked into TTTT. depending on if people are home to care. Heh. Let me know who is interested in chatting these two shows. Monday, June 7th The Bachelorette: Katie Thurston, Season 17 Premiere Twenty-nine charming men and one mystery box hope to get lucky in love with new bachelorette Katie Thurston; Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams offer advice; Katie selects 23 lucky bachelors to continue to get to know. Is it this time of year again? Yep, the summer editions usually start the first week of June. This was is unique: for the first time in the show's history, no Chris Harrison hosting (he is busy "educating himself"). Instead, he will be replaced by two former Bachelorettes. Will be interesting to see how that works out. "American Ninja Warriors: Qualifiers 2" Season 13 Episode 2, 8 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: "The qualifiers continue with a new generation of ninjas including competitors as young as 15 facing up to six challenging obstacles, including the Shrinking Steps, Weight for It, Split Decision, Tipping Point, V Formation and the iconic Warped Wall." I guess I'm on my own for this one after all. Heh. That didn't take long. Wonder if I'll be motivated to continue? Wonder if we should find an alternate chat time? Tuesday, June 8th "America's Got Talent: Auditions 2" Season 13 Episode 2, 8 pm on NBC I really enjoyed the first episode. Of course, there were a few duds. I won't lie. But there were also some really wonderful ones. A couple of my favorites: the dogs that opened the show, making me smile. Truly loved these father/son comedians. This little seven year old... so charming. Dad, so proud even though they technically are competing against each other. Heh. And this was my favorite: beautiful story, wrapped up in a interesting magic act. It deserved the Golden Buzzer, I thought. But instead, Howie gave his buzzer to this "Nurses Choir", which made my RN daughter happy. And they were good? But Golden Buzzer good? Well, my vote would have gone to Dustin - that magician's act really touched my heart. Looking forward to Tuesday's show. Wednesday, June 9th "Masterchef Legends", Season 18 Episode 2, Curtis Stone, 8 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: "The home cooks have 45 minutes to impress the judges, including guest judge and legendary Michelin Star chef Curtis Stone." So fun to have this show back. Calling all "Tigger"s! He is an avid "Masterchef" fan who somehow didn't make it to the premiere! Awwww. Really surprised me. Here's hoping he is able to make it for future chats. "Crime Scene Kitchen: Just Desserts", Season 1 Episode 3, 9 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: "The bakers head back into the kitchen to take on a new, delicious challenge; the best dessert detectives continue on in the competition and the duo that falls short heads home." I'm enjoying this fun little show, in spite of being reminded just how inept I would be at solving these mysteries. I think I'll be catching this one for its duration. Thursday, June 10th "Manifest: Mayday Part One" and "Mayday Part Two", Season 3 Episode 12 and 13, 8 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: Michaela struggles to help the passengers avoid a deadly threat; Ben and Saanvi undertake a treacherous mission to save someone they love; Jared and Vance team up, but their partnership reveals secrets that could upend their lives. This two hour finale might be on a bad night for me - might not make it to the show. But a chat page will be done and I'll let you all know later if any personal plans keep me from playing along. Friday, June 10th "Survivor South Africa" Episode 2... 9 pm for all interested parties. And if WM must spend an early Saturday at the beach - well then we'll have a second watch party on Sunday again. Heh. I know, we must plan our TV schedule around WM's beach habits.
These are my Rat Musings for the day. If I missed anything, or if you have something to add, please do so in the comments. Have a fantastic Sunday!
