Hello RTV Fanatics Unite fans! From Ricky the Rat, Rufus the Rat Terrier, And of course, me, Catlover04! Hello RTV people, This is the much-anticipated start to the fall 2022 TV season so expect a much longer than normal Rat page. Keeping that in mind, this heading will be much shorter than normal. No rambling on about the weather or my thoughts about... whatever. Instead we will dive right into our TV week. So here goes. But first.....(#JulieChenHumour) I spent a big chunk of yesterday assembling and preparing to launch the "Faith and Family" wing of my site. I have titled it "Entertainment Good for The Soul" and have labeled it "The Faith and Family Wing of RTV Fanatics Unite". Maybe I can find a few like-minded people to ME, who would be interested in participating in conversation about this kind of thing - instead of beating a dead horse over here about it with folks completely uninterested. Worth a try - and if it fails, it fails. We shall see how it goes. NOW, here goes. Sunday, September 18th "Big Brother: Season 24, Episode 31", 8:30 pm on CBS We're down to the final four! No shields left to hide behind, no background to slide into - how you play is going determine your fate. This is the week when winning HOH (as Taylor did on Thursday) is nowhere near as important as winning POV (probably seen on Thursday, since there is no Wednesday night episode this week). The schedule is all mixed up as we race toward next Sunday's season finale! "Chesapeake Shores: Straighten Up and Fly Right", Season 6 Episode 6, 8 pm on Hallmark Various issues are troubling the O'Briens; Mick is in denial about his addiction; Margaret passes the bar (ironically, passing bars is probably what Mick needs to start doing to beat this addiction! #HeeHeeHee); Jess pursues a new idea, and Bree tries mending the rift between her and Luke. All these new issues and this is the final season.... but so good. I know... I'm all alone in this on RTVFU, but still love this show. "Relative Race" Season 10, 8 pm on BYU TV. I've never seen this show but have alwqys wanted to. I can't find where to watch all seasons, but I do have access to three of the previous ones on UpTV Faith and Family. Here is a link to an article which explains what the show concept is in more detail, but it is a race in which players use DNA to find lost relatives. Relative Race Is Back – Season 10 Premieres on Sunday, September 18, 2022 on BYUTV – Journey Through the Generations I actually have access to BYU-TV on Frndly. Will try to make a real effort to watch this new season (then I can go back and watch the previous ones). It starts today at 8 pm and could be a good candidate for the other site, but I wanted to mention it here as well. I hear it actually IS a race, but is also a heartwarming show. Monday, September 19th "The Voice: Blind Auditions" Season 22, Episode 1, 8 to 10 pm on NBC The talent is exceptional, and the competition fierce as global superstar Camila Cabello claims her red chair alongside returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon. But the question is, will anyone but ME care to watch? No idea who the new judge is and I'm really not a fan of Gwen Stafani. AND... what happened to Kelly? Seriously, do I really WANT to watch? Well, having missed good tv for such a long time, perhaps I'll give it a go. If anyone cares to play along, let me know. "Quantum Leap" Premiere: July 13, 1985, 10 pm on NBC Episode synopsis reads like this: A new team assembles to restart the Quantum Leap project; lead physicist Ben Song takes an unauthorized leap into 1985 as the team scrambles to figure out what happened and how to get him back. I never really watched the original show. Was aware of it, sure, but was too busy in life for TV back then. Might check this one out though... if for no other reason than to have a time travel back to 1985 moment. What's memorable for me in 1985? The year I graduated from college. The year that the most iconic movie about time travel hit theaters, "Back To the Future". Anything else? WM? (Live Aid raised millions of dollars to fight starvation in Ethiopia, featuring the biggest recording stars of the day in a twenty-four hour concert all across the globe - but denied the festival's organizer Bob Geldof the Noble Peace prize (that sneaky Mother Teresa yanked the rug right out from under him!) If anyone cares to chat through this one, let me know. A chat page could be done. Maybe this show will be more successful than last years' "Ordinary Joe" which was in the coveted right-after-The-Voice spot but managed to fail anyway. "Dancing With the Stars", Season 31 on Disney Plus, still live at 8 pm. Did a bit of research and found that the reason they pulled it from ABC has more to do with that channel wanting to promote Monday Night Football than anything else. But they lost a lot of ratings on network TV due to controversial decisions such as firing Tom and Erin and replacing them with Tyra. Ratings have dropped the last couple of years with a lot of fans clamoring to have Tyra replaced as she stumbles over her words and dresses outlandishly. So instead of firing her... they gave her a co-host in Alfonso Rabiera and moved it to Disney Plus. I guess they figure only fans who really love the show will follow it there. I don't know; I'm really on the fence about this. I don't just want her replaced. I want Tom and Erin back with a full apology for this egregious error in judgement. That is what made me stop watching consistently in the first place. Then Tyra was such a bad hostess, it completely turned me off and I gave it up. Trevor Donovon might be the only thing that makes me check it out this season. The Hallmark, and now Great American Family, actor has been in a ton of enjoyable movies and will soon have his own show on a new Great American Community App, which will become available on September 26th. It's titled "Everyday Adventures with Trevor Donovan", and he'll in the cast paired with Emma, who has always been one of my favorite pros. Still on the fence about this. Let me know if anyone would appreciate a place to chat. I must say that "The Voice" will probably be my first choice so if I check this out it will be on demand. "Snake In the Grass: Something Is Snaky Here (Isn't something snaky here every week?)" Season 1, Episode 8, 11 pm on USA An alliance is broken when head games are played; a Snake tries to keep its story straight. Once again, I must implore NBC to put this show on network TV so we can have fun with it next season! And in a better time slot. The last episode was a really fun one. I've really enjoyed this all summer. It is such a shame that no one else has been able to play along. Oh well, maybe next season. Tuesday, September 20th "The Bachelorette Finale", Season 19 Episode 12, 8 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: Gabby and Rachel are each down to one man looking for lifelong love; both women join Jesse Palmer as they watch the shocking conclusions to their journeys play out; the new bachelor makes his debut. Like every single season finale in the show's history, this one promises to be The Most! Dramatic! Show! Ever! And will inevitably fail to match the over-the-top hyperbole. I'll bet many are like me and just ready to get the damn thing done and over with. "The Voice Premiere Week" Blind Auditions continue, Episode 2, 8 to 10 pm NBC If I do a page, it will be one page for both episodes. If anyone would like to play along, please let me know. "The Amazing Race Canada" Season 8 Episode 9, is on at 9 pm for our Canadians. I'm a couple of weeks behind and must get caught up very soon - tonight is the season finale! Prayingthat #TeamCanmoreBroAndSis are still in the race! "Monarch: There Can Only Be One Queen (And She Is Sandra Diaz-Twine)", Season 1 Episode 2, 9 pm on Fox The Romans rally together after tragedy strikes; Nicky and Gigi grow even more competitive when the press dub Gigi "The New Queen"; sparks fly between Nicky and Wade; Kayla discovers some shocking news. Did anyone watch the premiere? I watched a bit and said I was going to finish it later but never did. Might go back and give it more of a chance. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts about this. Also, we have the return of "The Resident" tonight on Fox. Now, in the past I have LOVED this show. And then last season's "Halloween" episode completely turned me off. Also, the loss of a key character (Nic) made me very sad. I suppose if I'm going to watch this season, I should catch up. But still, every time I think about it, I think about the last episode I watched and how much it troubled me. Shame they ruined this lovely show for me. I believe we also have the return of "New Amsterdam" at 10 pm on NBC. I know this is a favorite of EJetson. Wednesday, September 21st "Survivor 43: Cutthroat Island Premiere", Season 43, Episode 1, 8 to 10 pm on CBS Premiere episodes read like this: Eighteen new castaways come together to form their own society and begin their adventure for $1 million. Here it is, folks: another season of "Survivor" kicks off today. Now, I've spent the last couple of weeks listening to a three-part podcast done by RHAP which gave a good cast assessment of these new players and first impression from both Mike Bloom and Rob C. Enjoyable listen, and can be found on pretty much any Podcast platform. Here is a link to the cast page if anyone cares to check it out. It is showing about fifty comments now, all me except one from DNA42. heh. Please folks, participate! "SURVIVOR" is back. Survivor 43: Cutthroat Island Official Cast Announcement - RTV Fanatics Unite (weebly.com) After listening to them all, I can say the two I'm most excited about are Jesse Lopez and Ellie Scott. But quite a few of them are interesting. Might have a bit more enthusiasm for this season then I thought I would, particularly since EJetson mentioned he read that the dumb hourglass twist will not be back. So happy to hear that. Of course, there will be a live chat. If I'm running late for it, sorry, but it might happen. But will have the page up early. "The Amazing Race: Many Firsts But Don't Be Last", Season 34, Episode 1 Premiere, 10 pm on CBS Episode synopsis reads like this: Twelve new teams start their journey in Munich; a team is eliminated. A new season of "The Amazing Race" is another thing to get excited about. For some reason, I missed getting a cast assessment but will do so today. I know there is a lot of information out there; I just haven't check it out yet. Sorry, dropped the ball. But that doesn't mean I'm not thoroughly excited for a new season. Will get a "kick-off" page up today and post it in the comments. "The Masked Singer: A Royal Season Premiere", Season 8 Premiere, 8 pm on Fox Episode synopsis reads like this: Four celebrities perform, with only one contestant moving on to the next week. This show being on against Survivor is a problem; but I will be watching. Let me know if anyone else would like to chat this one with me. "Masked Singer" is so much more fun with a chat. Can't believe they are on season eight already! Wow. I'll bet I couldn't name more than three winners without googling! "Lego Masters: Ready to Launch", Season 3 Episode 1, 9 pm on Fox Teams are introduced and tasked with a space-themed challenge...building personalized spaceships. Also on at the worst time ever. I haven't seen any of this show but I know Ali really has enjoyed it. Another one that could have a delayed chat if anyone cared to do so. Let me know. "Big Sky: Do You Love An Apple", Season 3 Episode 1, 10 pm on ABC Episode synopsis reads like this: It's been a few months of relative peace, but all that's about to change when Sunny Barnes and her family set up Sunny Day Excursions just outside of town; Cassie is called in to investigate a missing backpacker; Beau and Jenny track a murderer (or is that murder a tracker?) Well, I'm not a fan of this show but I know we have a few. Must ask - WHEN did it move to Wednesday (Stupidly, just this season!) What a terrible decision to put it on such a busy TV night. I thought it was always a Thursday show. "Resident Alien: Best of Enemies", Season 2 Episode 1, 10 pm on Syfy Episode synopsis reads like this: Harry has an unexpected partner as he tries to infiltrate a military base to find his alien baby. And since TAR is beginning, this will need a delayed chat as well. Probably not too many episodes left in the season though. This week, maybe just doing it at 8 pm Thursday would work (as we did last week). Then there are all those "Chicago" Shows for EJetson. And "The Goldbergs" for me - though I must say they are keeping this show alive longer than it needs to be. Adam graduated high school last season; I think. Might be time to give it a rest. Is annoying Mom going to follow Adam to film school? Wednesday is loaded. As I say every season: jeez, networks. There ARE other nights of the week besides "WEDNESDAY"! Why pile all the good shows on the same night? It's annoying. Thursday, September 22nd "Big Brother" Season 24 Episode 32, 9 to 11 pm on CBS Wednesday's show was cancelled so this will have to be VETO night - but what else will happen? The schedule is mixed-up this week! Friday, September 16th "Big Brother" Season 24 Episode 33, 9 to 11 pm on CBS WM ? No idea what pic to put on a Friday night episode (Julie Chen dancing on Tik Tok!) I guess it will depend on how much was covered on Thursday for the VETO comp, the live eviction and the new HOH comp. We'll just have to find out as they happen! IF I missed anything, please let me know. I did find this pretty good look on Deadline about TV shows premiering. Here is a link if you want to check it out: Fall TV Premiere Dates 2022: New, Returning Shows On Broadcast, Cable, Streaming – Deadline I'm fascinated that they have included the BYU show "Relative Race" which is beginning its tenth season. See above on Sunday's information. These are my rat musings for the day. If anyone has anything to add, please do so in the comments. ![]()
